E2 Shop System Cracks

The shop I quit about a month ago started implementing the E2 software about three months ago. The shop was a 60 person 3 shift half assed job shop working out of the maintainance department of a 6000 plus employee manufacturing company.

To say the least, I was not the slightest bit impressed with the interface or ease of use although I didn't stick around long enough to see it fully intergrated. Three supervisors were constantly entering jobs into the system and it became a major bottleneck. I beleive that it simply won't work with certain types of shops. It may work if you have a guy running one machine all day but if you are running multiple jobs and machines it is worthless is my opinion.

Additionally, as far as I know, tooling, fixture material and time could not be added to the job. I heard it will be TWO YEARS before the system is fully intergrated and by that time I figure the shop will be disbanded after the CEO realizes what a huge loss a half-assed job shop is. Anywho, my new company is using a UNIX ( yes unix, invented in 1969) based time clock/management system and for this company it works fine. It may work for your needs but just remember that the software salesman gets a brand new BMW for ever POS software system he sells. (just my bitter opinion). Check out Global Shop Solutions.

That's what we have. FYI, we've had this implemented since 2005 and has saved us TONS of paperwork, and eliminated 2 clerical positions. I love it for scheduling, and efficiency reporting (you AUTOMATICALLY receive better efficiencies when your employees know you are tracking it). It's paid for itself over and over. We are a manufacturer with a product line, so our products are re-ocurring runs, but have about 14,000 items.

If you are TRUE job shop, and almost everything you run is something new; It's a waste to look at any ERP software. Henning SUCKS as well. Half the shit in the numerous drop down menus DOES NOT WORK. Some reports don't work.

Bar code labels for inventory print ONE PER PAGE, the idiots at Henning know this and shrug it off like it's not important. I asked if other users have issues with not being able to print bar code lables for inventory (since this is a basic and very handy feature to have in any ERP software program). They said 'some others also wish it would work, but we have no way to fix that right now).it's never worked in 4 years. Henning is (I believe) written in Foxpro database. It is buggy, clunky, and 'sorta' works in some ways.extremely clunky, some data needs to be entered more than once in the 'disconnected' modules it uses. A work in progress that never progresses very much. Amel Larrieux Infinite Possibilities Rar 320 Market.

The user forum is mostly questions asking 'how come' this or that doesn't work correctly, or questions about the complicated nature of the program. They never fail to email and fax a yearly request for the $300 maintenance fee.like I'm gonna pay that.

It just amazes me that these software companies get away with selling this crap, and how they stay in business doing it. I use E2 in a 15+ employee shop. We do small batch sizes, a fair amount of 'job shop' single piece or first time work, and a rare high volume run of a few hundred or more. Most of our work i would consider 'general machining', and can be anything from aluminum, to 4140, to NiCu and stainless. I find that the software is no different than any machine in a shop. Download Recitation Of Bratati Bandopadhyay there. It's only as intuitive as the person utilizing it, and is GREATLY dependent on the experience of the person setting it up. There have been many people before me tinkering around with it for about 3 years, ranging from owners, to production managers, industrial engineers, foreman, purchasing ect, none of which had utilized similar shop control software in their past.
